GIVE YOUR DOG PLENTY OF H20 WHILE HUNTING
When hunting, dogs work hard. In fact, studies show that a dog working in the field retrieving waterfowl, flushing game and running through thick brush can lose twice the amount of water over a short time as a dog that is sitting in the kennel or on the couch. Keeping your dog hydrated in the field is very important. A few years ago, several dogs died on opening day of pheasant season in South Dakota as a result of dehydration and exhaustion.
The good news is preventing a dog from getting dehydrated is simple. Give them water regularly. Bringing a bottle of water and a collapsible dish into the field with you while hunting to give your dog water is a good idea. There are water supplements for dogs that are similar to sports drinks for people. Add the power supplement to his water and he’ll get an extra boost.
One of my biggest problems while hunting with dogs has been misplacing their food bowls when I return to the truck. Hitch Hero has solved that problem. Now when I return to the truck I can put food and water in the Hitch Hero and feed them. I no longer have to worry about HIM.
